Our Karate School

My name is Ron Joslin, and I hold a Master's degree in the art of Isshinryu Karate from Okinawa, Japan. Together with my wife, Nuttah (Nut-ta) Joslin, a second-degree black belt, I ran two of the largest karate schools in the country in California, and we now operate Cape Coral Karate in Cape Coral, FL. Our adult karate classes are well-known for fostering self-discipline, enhancing fitness, and teaching vital self-defense skills. I owe a great deal of my success to my teacher, Grandmaster Willie Adams, under whose guidance I have trained for 47 years. Over the decades, my wife and I have helped hundreds of students achieve the rank of black belt, a testament to our dedication to Isshinryu Karate. I am also proud to have been inducted into two karate halls of fame: the American Okinawan Karate Association and the International Isshinryu Karate Association Hall of Fame, led by Master Angi Uezu of Okinawa. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching in public and private schools in Rocklin and Roseville, CA, as well as in my own martial arts commercial spaces. Since moving our family to Cape Coral in 2017, we opened our dojo to share our passion for self-defense classes and karate for kids with the local community. — Master Instructor Ron Joslin

Ms. Nuttah Joslin was instrumental in the success of our karate school in California, where we offer high-quality self-defense classes and specialized karate for kids. She managed the front office, handled scheduling and new student enrollments, and helped develop the curriculum focused on Isshinryu Karate. Ms. Joslin also taught adult karate classes and coordinated special events, including our annual picnic, the annual awards banquet, and the premier Black Belt Extravaganza. Furthermore, she expertly managed the KIAI Association's national events in high-profile locations such as Disney World, Japantown in San Francisco, New Orleans, and Reno, Nevada. To manage all of this is an incredibly impressive feat that would keep anyone busy! In addition to her administrative excellence, she is a second-degree black belt in Isshinryu Karate and a distinguished tournament champion, having won the Grand Nationals Tournament in both forms (kata) and sparring in the black belt division. I am incredibly proud to have Ms. Joslin representing our school.

We focus on three essential areas: self-discipline, confidence, and the fitness and defense skills taught in our professional Isshinryu Karate school. As teachers, we aspire to emulate the old gold miners, who often move tons of dirt to uncover a single nugget of gold. They didn’t set out in search of dirt; similarly, at Cape Coral Karate, we seek out the good qualities in our students (the nuggets of gold) and highlight all the improvements we observe. We ensure that we praise the kids in front of their peers, inviting everyone to join in on the celebration. We are not searching for dirt. Being a Black Belt school, we are dedicated, motivated, and committed to being our best!
